This month, Project Glimmer would like to introduce you to our Board Member, Kellie Abreu. She works as the Deputy Chief Banking Officer with First Republic Bank and lives in San Francisco with her husband, child, and two dogs. We asked Kellie to share a little about herself and her involvement with Project Glimmer.
How did you become involved with Project Glimmer?
I became involved with Project Glimmer when I met the founder, Sonja Perkins. Our children were attending the same school and I began supporting PG financially at first and, then, was asked to join the Board. I have been on the PG BOD for 3 years but have attended annual fundraisers for many, many years.
“My favorite part of Project Glimmer’s work is our ability to inspire every girl to reach their potential. It inspires me because I believe we all need support and mentorship.”
Can you share about your role and why you love your job?
My favorite part of my role as the Deputy Chief Banking Officer at First Republic Bank is being able to make financial dreams come true for our clients. I am also a problem solver and trusted advisor to our clients and a senior leader in our company that has an amazing culture and dedicated, hard working, fun colleagues.
What advice would you give to your teenage self?
I would tell her that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. Follow your passions and spend your time with people who value and respect you and are happy and celebrate your successes.
What’s one hobby you’d love to get into?
I would love to get back into reading biographies - I love to read them and learn about people's lives and really miss it!
Project Glimmer greatly appreciates Kellie and all of our Board Members and the integral role they play in supporting our organization. Anyone can help Project Glimmer by partnering with us, volunteering, or shopping our partners.
