Your Gift Doubled for Foster Girls!

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, always an important time of the year for Project Glimmer. There are over 400,000 foster youth in the US today and, tragically, that number is growing. Project Glimmer is committed to supporting thousands of those foster girls annually – and we need your help.

The COVID-19 crisis of the past year has been especially devastating for foster youth. The nation’s foster care system is overwhelmed, with more children entering the system and fewer families willing to take them. Adolescent foster youth are bearing some of the worst of the pandemic’s economic and social consequences, including:

  • Financial, housing, and employment instability

  • Food insecurity

  • Complete disruption of educational progress

  • Depression, anxiety, and isolation

  • Lack of support from friends, caseworkers, mentors, and caring adults

This is where Project Glimmer comes in for foster girls, the majority of whom are of color. During the pandemic, Project Glimmer has served over 100,000 girls, many of whom are in the foster care system. We connect foster girls with professional networks and mentors through our “Empower Hours” and distribute vital personal care products through our “Gifts and Goods” program.

Our goal is to raise at least $50,000 to help even more foster girls.

I’m asking you to join me in supporting our foster youth. For the next 10 days, until we reach our goal, 100% of every  gift you make will support Project Glimmer’s foster youth and every dollar will be matched. Your donation will truly make the lives of foster girls better.

By investing in the empowerment of foster girls, we are telling her she is not alone, that her community cares and, most importantly, “We believe in you.”

With gratitude,
