May is Foster Care Awareness Month, a time for all of us to help ensure a bright future for the 400,000+ youth who are in foster care today. Project Glimmer is committed to supporting thousands of those foster girls annually – and we need your help.
Teenage girls in foster care face unique, gender-based challenges:
Foster girls are 2X more likely to become pregnant by age 19
Higher frequency of running away
Greater risk for human trafficking, 60% of child victims have been in foster care
Leading to only 50% graduating high school and a mere 3% from college
This is where Project Glimmer comes in for thousands of foster girls. We help break the cycle of poverty and abuse by building confidence and self-worth in foster girls through our Gifts + Goods program and connecting them with professional networks, mentors, and coaches through our Empowerment Programs.
Our goal is to raise at least $100,000 to support foster girls.
